They are painfully true and need to be reckoned with. An honest heart who values life, truth, and protecting those who are unable to protect themselves will definately see abortion as it really is: the murder of an innocent life. You're doing great Sarah.

At 18 days [when the mother is only four days late for her first menstrual period], and by 21 days the heart is pumping, through a closed circulatory system, blood whose type is different from that of the mother. J.M. Tanner, G. R. Taylor, and the Editors of Time-Life Books, Growth, New York: Life Science Library, 1965,

Brain function, as measured on the Electroencephalogram, "appears to be reliably present in the fetus at about eight weeks gestation," or six weeks after conception. J. Goldenring, "Development of the Fetal Brain," New England Jour. of Med., Aug. 26, 1982, p. 564

At eight weeks, "if we tickle the baby’s nose, he will flex his head backwards away from the stimulus." A. Hellgers, M.D., "Fetal Development, 31," Theological Studies, vol. 3, no. 7, 1970, p. 26

Now we can listen to the tiny one’s heartbeat on an ultrasonic stethoscope. These are now common in doctors’ offices and on hospital wards. They are never used in abortion facilities, however, as this information is universally withheld from mothers prior to abortion. Abortionists know that if they tell women there already is a heartbeat — and certainly if they would let her listen to the heartbeat — some mothers would change their minds. The actual sounds of an six-week-old baby’s heartbeat are available on tape from Cincinnati Right to Life, 1802 W. Galbraith Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45239 ($3.00).

"Eleven years ago, while giving an anesthetic for a ruptured tubal pregnancy (at two months), I was handed what I believed to be the smallest human being ever seen. The embryo sac was intact and transparent. Within the sac was a tiny (one-third inch) human male swimming extremely vigorously in the amniotic fluid, while attached to the wall by the umbilical cord. This tiny human was perfectly developed with long, tapering fingers, feet and toes. It was almost transparent as regards the skin, and the delicate arteries and veins were prominent to the ends of the fingers.

"The baby was extremely alive and swam about the sac approximately one time per second with a natural swimmers stroke. This tiny human did not look at all like the photos and drawings of ‘embryos’ which I have seen, nor did it look like the few embryos I have been able to observe since then, obviously because this one was alive. "When the sac was opened, the tiny human immediately lost its life and took on the appearance of what is accepted as the appearance of an embryo at this stage (blunt extremities, etc.)." P.E. First, they were accepted as valid by state officials. Second, given the tenor of last several months, had Leslee Unruh *really* believed that they were, she would have challenged them right away. The fact that she didn't say a word until recently - well AFTER the election - suggests that she has no basis for this accusation.

Second, I was struck by your implication of some kind of vandalism or whatever in retaliation for a Lutheran church yelling at you to get off their property. Not sure how that really fits in with your overall message or how you can be proud of that as, supposedly, a good Christian.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276481367704321573.post-89675460885783981582007-01-20T20:27:00.000-06:002007-01-20T20:27:00.000-06:00I am a fifth generation South Dakotan who can safe...I am a fifth generation South Dakotan who can safely say my entire family voted 'no' on 6. This legislation was drafted by out-of-state interests who had connections in our legislature.

Anger over the passage of this bill led to over 38,000 signatures being gathered by 1,300 South Dakotans, from every county in this state. Those signatures were not fraudulent. Vote Yes had the opportunity to challenge the validity of the signatures gathered, but they did not. The Secretary of State's office verified the petitions were valid before the measure went to the ballot.

This referendum was absolutely the people of South Dakota versus a huge number of out of state interests, including your organization. I just hope your movement understands that you aren't welcome to push this junk here anymore.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276481367704321573.post-16937297720552669202007-01-19T22:23:00.000-06:002007-01-19T22:23:00.000-06:00Great points Sarah.
We were on the campaign trai...Great points Sarah.

We were on the campaign trail in November up in Minnesota last year for the general elections and had many of the same reactions on some of the same topics from a variety of people.

Here in California we had a similar experience with Prop. 85. Like to yourself, our campaign also ended in defeat, but, remarkably enough, I saw a generation of teens and young adults educated on an issue that has been ignored and hidden away "beneath the bed" so to speak.

While we were unable to bring about the legislative results we desired, almost just as importantly, we raised up a group of people, Christian and non-Christian alike, who are now educated and informed about abortion.

We can't always get the measures and laws passed that we want. We try, and we campaign, and we put all our effort into showing that we really care about what happens in our country, but that isn't always enough.

Still, we can console ourselves, knowing that we tried our best, that we have helped people to gain more information on a topic many of them previously ignored or hadn't heard about. That is success...complete and total success. Anything after that is icing on the cake.

In November, hundreds of teens did the same thing in many states across the country, and it left us with a far more ready and able America...one that is now in a better position to deal with important moral and social issues facing us today, like abortion.

Tomorrow is still coming, but yesterday has gone, and it was spent well...in the aiding of America's children...in making sure they have the chance of a tomorrow.

It rocks my world when I hear stories like yours Sarah. This is what living is all about: giving our all for a worthy cause, and taking a stand...for real.

America is great because it's made up of people who are willing to do exactly what you did.Josiahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10674118338378095952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276481367704321573.post-62136783848614393372007-01-19T16:48:00.000-06:002007-01-19T16:48:00.000-06:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6276481367704321573.post-79386179397709131972007-01-19T13:45:00.000-06:002007-01-19T13:45:00.000-06:00Don't worry about foxgrandma. If a person is not willing to accept the fact that at the moment of conception their is a complete, unique, individual human life there, then it's not worth debating if they choose to ignore fact.

I think it's great that yourself and other teens came to volunteer. There is nothing more important in life than real world experience. That is the choice of each individual woman. There is also a difference between being pro-life and prolife. See if you can figure it out! Aborted fetuses/embryos are not babies and are not human beings. They are not capable of living outside of the mother. Maybe you should ask Leslee what she pled nolo-contendre to in the eighties. Leave those of us that belief in the right to choose alone and leave the law giving us the right to have a safe, legal abortion alone. My guess is that the group of students you were with should have remained in school and maybe learned something. Yes you felt it was an enriching experience, but in a way all of you were brainwashed and hyped up to think that way. I used to attend some evangelical meetings and know what goes on. It isn't actual brainwashing, but amounts to the same thing. Think for yourself!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
